Even before the COVID-19 pandemic entered the world\u2019s consciousness, healthcare professionals were feeling the strain of staffing and resources in the tumultuous world of healthcare. And, as the world\u2019s largest health crisis in recent history began to explode, the situation only got worse. But, not all hope is lost.<\/span><\/p>\n

With all that healthcare professionals have endured in the last two years, it is critical that we take the time to amplify their voices and their stories. Every year, our team at Vivian runs a survey of our huge network of healthcare professionals about their jobs, their career, their mental health<\/a>, and so much more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Future of Healthcare Employment<\/h2>\n

Last year, we reported that<\/span> 40% <\/b>of healthcare professionals surveyed were considering leaving their profession. This year, the results showed a big uptick in clinicians who plan to leave the profession in the next 5 years.<\/span> \u00a067% <\/b>of respondents indicated they plan to leave healthcare, and 11.3% <\/b>of respondents said they would leave within the next 6 months.<\/p>\n

But There Are Silver Linings<\/h2>\n

Although there is still a lot we can do to support healthcare workers, there are still positive signals in the industry for healthcare professionals. <\/span>73.5% <\/b>of respondents reported earning more money in 2021 when compared to 2020. When asked which factors mattered most in their decision to stay or leave a job, the most selected responses were Compensation, Mental Wellbeing, Staff-to-Patient Ratios, and Respect in that order.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Numbers of Mental Health<\/h2>\n

Unsurprisingly, HCPs are overwhelmingly reporting that their mental health has been harmed over the last two years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
