Job Description:

Description: The Supervisor Outpatient Pharmacy is responsible for supervising Certified Pharmacy Technicians (CPhT) and Pharmacy Clerks assigned to the Main Campus Pharmacy. This position is accountable for managing the activities of the assigned staff, providing staff development and evaluation of performance.

Typical Duties:

  1. Display a positive attitude when interacting with patients and team members.

  2. Ability to achieve departmental objectives in a fast paced environment and work effectively in all work areas within the department.

  3. Demonstrate effective interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  4. Motivates, coaches and assists in the training of team members to help facilitate positive development of staff and provides timely feedback in a constructive manner.

  5. Recognizes positive behavior and contributions providing feedback using praise, appreciation, and awards.

  6. Supervises CPhT including, but not limited to hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions, disciplinary actions, maintaining payroll and time reports, and scheduling ensuring proper coverage for assigned work areas.

  7. Directly responsible for the productivity of the team to positively drive operational metrics.

  8. Supervises personnel activities, analyzes workflow making adjustments to staff assignments and scheduling to ensure maximum work flow efficiency. Plans and forecast work volume to determine staffing needs.

  9. Ensures department is meeting service metrics, wait time, etc. If not at goal, assist in evaluating operational workflow making adjustments to achieve goals.

  10. Actively contributes to the strategic planning and achievement of departmental goals and objectives.

  11. Self-motivated with personal integrity and ability to work effectively with other staff.

  12. Serves as a subject matter expert by providing support and development of staff.

  13. Works as a frontline team member as needed to support the operation and other team members.

  14. Superior customer service skills with ability to diffuse and resolve escalated customer service issues with follow up with leadership as needed. Serves as a service recovery expert for pharmacy issues.

  15. Assures JPS Policies and Procedures, applicable federal and state laws and applicable professional standards are being followed while performing all job duties.

  16. Assist with various projects as assigned.

  17. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:


    Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role with progressive responsibility
  • 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting

  • Required Licensure/Certification:
  • Current licensure with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • National Pharmacy Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

  • Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience leading a large team
  • 4 plus years of pharmacy experience in an outpatient pharmacy setting.
