JOB SUMMARY:     The RN Charge Nurse will perform the primary functions of a professional leader in assessing, planning, directing and evaluating patient care in the Emergency room department; as well as in supervising staff, and managing equipment and supplies.

ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:  (This list is a succinct summary of core duties only. Other tasks will be assigned)

  1. Assures that physician orders are compiled accurately and promptly.
  2. Makes rounds which sufficiently assess acuity, patient/family satisfaction, and staff accomplishments relative to patient needs.
  3. Assists nursing staff with problems and problem-solving.
  4. Consults with Medical Staff to coordinate plans of care.
  5. Responsible for nursing care delivery quality, supervision of staff, appropriate assignments of duties and management of applicable equipment and supplies.
  6. Serves as liaison and maintains communication with physicians, other hospital departments and patient care units to assure quality patient care.
  7. Oversees patient admissions, transfers & discharges.
  8. Identifies issues or emergencies & responds in a calm & efficient manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  2. Must have and maintain a current RN license issued by the State of Texas.
  3. Must have adequate department training.
  4. Must have and maintain current required certifications.
  5. Must demonstrate the ability to engage in effective verbal and written communication.
  6. Duties require intermittent walking, sitting, standing, pulling, bending, stooping and reaching to perform tasks and be able to lift objects that may weigh as much as 50 lbs.

Pay

Average Texas Staff Position Pay

$32.37/hour
