Very much the typical "if you haven't been here 10+ years" you will never be accepted culture. Unsafe practices, doctors don't always listen to RNs concerns for patients and lack of listening to those concerns have proven to lead to severe outcomes for patients. INCREASED RISK FOR LOSING YOUR RN LICENSE! The facility doesn't get the critical cases, if they do, they send them out to a more capable facility. That being said, many RNs/doctors have minimal experience. A few RNs may truly be knowledgable but most others are pretty entry level even after years and years of being nurses. This is burdensome on RNs working here as the "senior RNs" don't even know critical care enough to care for the patient while at the facility. Management is incompetent and micromanages all the wrong things. Clock in time, decor, drinks at RN station, gift baskets... I could go on and on. There are many protocols that should be in practice for patient safety but instead management is worried about things that are insignificant to direct patient care. Never once did management step in to help with patient care when RNs voiced being over safe ratios. The med surg unit and ER were "well staffed" but can't keep employees due to the poor culture here. The birthing unit staffing set up is terribly unsafe, also cannot keep employees. One RN on staff if no patients currently in the birthing center, with the second to arrive within 30 mins as they are on call. A LOT CAN HAPPEN IN THOSE 30 MINUTES. Again, huge risk for your license if you are coming here as LDRP RN. I would stay far away from this facility unless you are okay with your license constantly being at risk or they somehow seem to have changed their care processes and protocols/management.
