Best Hospital Laboratory in US
Independent hospital that still values patients over money. This alone creates a great work enviroment. Lab Director, supervisors and all lab staff were wonderful. If I could have picked this hospital up and moved it closer to my home, i would have begged them to take me perm!!
Work environment needs improvement - physicians can be difficult to interact with at times. On behavioral health unit, safety is concerning at times. Psychiatrists hesitant to medicate, cell phones are allowed by patients, basic psychiatric standard safety procedures tend to be ignored (contraband searches on admit on patients and belongings, IV, O2 tubing allowed, electrical cords allowed at times) Scheduling was flexible, behavioral health unit uses self-scheduling. Inconsistent management/administration. In less than 2 years I witnessed 2 different nursing managers, 4 RN unit coordinators, and 3 nursing directors come and go for just the behavioral health unit. Assignments were usually easy. On a good day-shift max 5 patients to 1 RN. On bad day, max 9 patients to 1 RN. On night-shift, 2 RNs who split a unit of 26 beds.

Patient ratios are extremely unsafe with little to no auxiliary staff. Patient population is very rude and demanding
