Medical Surgical Nurse Manager

A highly rated organization is seeking a manager to lead one of their Medical Surgical units.
Full-Time / Permanent Position
Competitive Pay with Full Benefits
Schedule: Monday to Friday with 24/7 responsibility
26-28 bed unit
59-62 direct reports (including RNs, PCAs, and Unit Secretaries)
Responsibilities
Oversees the day to day operations of the Med/Surg unit
Produces cost effective and high-quality patient care by overseeing nursing processes and assessing patient needs
Assigns duties to other staff and enforces professional nursing policies and procedures
Represents the nursing department in committees and task force activities
Recommends and makes changes in Med/Surg personnel
Coordinates with educators for the orientation and training of MedSurg new hires
Educates and evaluates MedSurg staff through performance reviews and training
Supports staff through regular meetings and individual and team recognition
Develops capital budgets for the appropriate units
Organizes and maintains staffing plans on the Med/Surg unit
Monitors salaries and supply expenses as well as preparing variance reports
Promotes safety measures and quality improvement to MedSurg staff
Collaborates with other facilities and organizations for continued improvement of processes and services
Provide patients with timely and accurate admissions and discharges
Incorporates current research into nursing practice
Implements organizational tools and programs
Encourage staff input and views, fostering an accepting environment
Ensures appropriate equipment
Requirements
MSN or BSN with current enrollment in a qualified Master's degree program
Massachusetts Registered Nurse License required
2+ years of leadership/management experience in an inpatient unit
5+ years of inpatient nursing experience
