Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Care Med/Surg Tele position at a Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 28-bed Post Surgical Care unit within a 457-licensed-bed Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital that is also a designated Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
• Patient population includes orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow cases
• Patient ratios are 1:4–6, with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
• General post-surgical skills utilized include incision care, assessment, drain management, chest tubes, wound care/wound vacs, mobility assistance, patient education, trach care, NG tube insertion, and use of braces/traction
• EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pump: BD Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips and Masimo; remote telemetry monitoring in use
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH – pediatrics only); candidates unwilling to float to all facilities in the region should not apply
• No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in general post-surgical nursing skills including wound care, chest tubes, trach care, NG tube insertion, and use of braces/traction
• Epic EMR experience required
• Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the unit (local candidates are not accepted)
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Departmental support includes CNAs (phlebotomy, ADLs, Foley insertion/removal, peripheral IV removal), a charge nurse, IV/VAT team, unit mentor, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, house supervisor, patient safety attendants/virtual patient observation, BERT Behavioral Response Team, and rapid response/code team
• Orientation includes facility-level NEO followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Navy scrubs required; free parking available in designated areas

• Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
