Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at an accredited Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center in High Point, NC, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and advanced cardiac skills.

Details

  • Works in an 8-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) within a 304-bed, urban community teaching hospital accredited as a Chest Pain Center (American College of Cardiology) and designated as a Primary Stroke Center (TJC)
  • Patient population includes post open heart surgery, MI, cardiac interventional procedures, vascular and thoracic surgical patients, respiratory failure, severe sepsis, cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management, CRRT, neuro/stroke cases, and DKA/HHNK
  • Standard ICU nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2; high-acuity cases (immediate post open heart, Impella/IABP, CRRT, organ procurement) are 1:1; overflow stepdown patients may be up to 1:3 or 1:4
  • CNA and Nurse Tech support available on the unit; Charge Nurse serves as Resource Nurse
  • Rapid Response Team, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist (24/7) available
  • RN is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
  • EMR: Epic (experience noted)
  • Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips Intellivue monitors, NxStage CRRT, Edwards Lifesciences Hemosphere/FloTrac for advanced hemodynamics, and Arctic Sun TTM
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7pm–7am, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • May float within scope of practice, including to MedSurg, with a capped ratio of 1:4 on MedSurg
  • No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

  • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, rhythm interpretation, arterial lines, drip titration, ventilator care, vascular lines, chest tubes/drains, post-procedure site care (trans-radial bands, femoral sheaths), CRRT, immediate post open heart care, advanced cardiac support (Impella/IABP), Swan-Ganz/advanced hemodynamics, temporary pacemaker, and post pulmonary artery thrombectomy (EKOS, Penumbra, Inari)
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
  • Orientation includes Week 1 for nursing orientation, Epic training, and online CBL (Healthstream), followed by a 12-hour department-specific orientation shift with an RN preceptor
