Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a compact or VA license, at least one year of ICU experience, and required certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a 20-bed ICU caring for adult and neurological critical care patients
- Typical patient population includes neuro ICU, sepsis, and complex critically ill adults
- Patient ratios are typically 1:1-2 based on staffing and unit needs
- Responsibilities include management of vents, IABP, conscious sedation, sepsis, pressors/gtts, and PA catheters
- Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, tube feeding, NGT, chest tubes, and wound vac
- 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
- Scrubs must be navy blue, white, or any combination of the two colors
- Must pass an Advanced Arrhythmia Exam during orientation
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- Role involves collaborating closely with interdisciplinary care teams and coordinating complex patient care
- Duties include ventilator management, administering medications, conscious sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Will work with advanced life-support modalities such as IABP and PA catheters
- Holiday coverage is mandatory as per schedule rotation
- No local candidates will be considered within a 50 mile radius
- Navy blue and white or combination scrubs are required attire
- Study guide for arrhythmia exam will be available prior to testing
Requirements
- Active RN license in VA or compact state required
- Minimum of one year recent ICU experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Must provide a copy of nursing diploma or transcript for consideration
- Must successfully pass an Advanced Arrhythmia (EKG) exam during orientation, with up to two attempts allowed
