Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry night shift position requiring Cerner experience and at least two years of telemetry travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Tele Neuro 2B unit in an acute care setting with 28 beds
• Care for patients with neurological and cardiac conditions including CVAs, TIAs, head bleeds, carotids, thoracotomies, AICDs, and post-surgical cases requiring telemetry
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Charge nurse present who does not take patients, supported by nurse aides
• Telemetry monitoring with GE Monitors; must be able to interpret EKGs
• No ventilator patients
• 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am), every other or potentially every third weekend required
• Expected to float to Cardiac Tele, MedSurg Onc, or sister facility as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR and Cerner experience is required
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
• Main responsibilities include tele-neuro nursing care for acute neurological and cardiac patients
• 24/7 support from intensivist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy teams
• No IV team available
• A pass/fail simulation lab assessment is required on the first day of orientation, study guides provided
• Scrub color is navy
• Holiday shifts will rotate with permanent staff
• Candidates cannot have been employed by the associated health system within the past year unless through an outside agency PRN
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility for eligibility

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years telemetry nursing experience is required
• Previous travel nurse experience in telemetry required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must have experience with Cerner EMR
• Must be able to interpret EKGs
• Completion and passing of a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing, with a maximum of 2 attempts
• Must provide 2 references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and another from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
