Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a critical access hospital, requiring a WI or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a combined ICU and Med/Surg unit within a 25-bed critical access hospital
• Unit includes 20 beds, with a typical census of 8-10 patients; ICU has 3 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 on days/evenings, 1:6-7 on evenings/nights
• 12-hour variable shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
• Occasional floating to other departments for supportive tasks without patient load
• Possible floating to other locations in the health system including Merrill, Wausau, Stanley, and Langlade
• Epic charting experience is preferred
• Nurses will assist with vital checks and supportive duties when floating
• Travelers may be put on call or low census, with on-call hours counting toward a 36-hour unbillable limit
• During flu season, those who decline flu and COVID vaccination must wear a mask at all times in compliance with facility policy
• Any clean, work-appropriate scrubs may be worn

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience in ED or ICU is helpful
• Ability to read telemetry strips required
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
