Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Observation Unit, requiring strong pre/post Cath Lab, PACU recovery, and cardiac surgery admission skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital Cardiac Observation Unit with 31 beds
• Patient population includes admissions, cardiac procedure recovery, pre/post Cath Lab and EP Lab procedures, PACU recovery, cardiac surgery admissions, TAVR/LAAO recoveries, and cardiac observation patients
• Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Patient ratio is 3:1 on days and 4-5:1 on nights
• Required to float to other cardiac, stepdown, or telemetry units; rare mid-shift floating between campuses may occur
• Uses Epic EMR; Cupid experience highly preferred
• Primary responsibilities include cardiac observation and pre/post-procedure care for Cath Lab, EP procedures, and cardiac surgeries
• Teaching hospital setting; may require precepting students and new hires
• Red scrub top and black scrub bottoms are required; clothing with competing health system or agency logos is not permitted
• COVID-19 vaccine is not currently required but is subject to change
• Termination may occur after three call-ins
• Candidates must reside outside a 40-mile radius; no local candidates will be considered

Requirements

• Active IN or compact state RN license required
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years specialty experience required
• Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment (no first-time travelers considered)
• Proficiency in starting IVs, radial artery sheath removal, TR band management, arterial line management, and managing/titrating cardiac drips
• Ability to perform and interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG required
• Experience with Epic charting required; Cupid experience is a plus
• Tele interpretation, 12-lead EKG, PIV insertion, pre/post Heart Cath management, cardiac drip initiation/titration, and monitoring trending troponins skills are required
