Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a LDRP assignment requiring an active IA or compact RN license and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit in an acute care setting
• Care for low-risk maternal patients, including labor, delivery, and postpartum cases
• Patient ratios are generally 1:3 mom-baby couplets and 1:1 for laboring patients
• Common diagnoses include Level 1 maternal care, occasional magnesium sulfate and gestational diabetes cases
• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts
• Schedule includes every 3rd weekend
• Alaris IV pumps are used in the unit
• EPIC is the charting system utilized (prior experience preferred)
• Unit is closed, and floating is not required
• Charge nurses are present each shift and take patient assignments
• Duties include managing labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care for mothers and newborns, including the administration of common drips such as insulin, magnesium sulfate, and pitocin
• Flexible scheduling is preferred
• Pass/Fail clinical skills exam is administered during orientation
• Artificial nails are prohibited for all staff providing patient care
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Holiday coverage may be required as per unit needs
• A 50-mile distance from the facility is required for eligibility

Requirements

• Active IA or Compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Must demonstrate competency in labor, delivery, and postpartum care; NICU experience is a plus
• Driver's license is required to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius
• Candidates may not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year
• Ability to pass an open-book clinical skills exam with a minimum 90% score during orientation
• References from a supervisor within the last 12 months and either a peer or supervisor from the last 3 years are required
