Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Inpatient Rehab travel assignment in Corpus Christi, TX, requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent specialty experience.
Details
- Inpatient Rehabilitation unit (Floor 3S) within a hospital setting
- 15-bed unit with a capacity of 15 patients at full census
- Patient ratio of 5:1, maximum 6:1
- Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN (takes full patient load), 2 RNs, and 1 CNA; night shift mirrors same structure
- Equipment used includes VS machines, Hoyer lift, sliding boards, EKG machine, and bladder scanner
- EMR: Meditech; medication dispensing via Pyxis
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required; holiday coverage required
- On-call is seldom required, typically only when overall hospital census is low
- Floating may be required to Med-Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and Overflow units across two hospital campuses (Bay Area and DRMC); ICU is excluded from float pool
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in inpatient rehab or a related specialty
- Proficiency with patient transfer techniques is required
- EMR proficiency required; Meditech experience preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Rehab experience and familiarity with rehab scoring documentation are preferred and will be prioritized during candidate review
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Daily responsibilities include patient transfers, bladder scans, dressing changes, and medication administration
- Unit follows bedside report/handoff, hourly rounding, and bed alarm activation protocols
- Strong teamwork and initiative are emphasized as key personality traits for this unit
