Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of experience and active AL or Compact RN licensure for a night shift position.
Details
- 54-bed Emergency Department at a state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
- High-volume ED treating more than 60,000 patients per year
- Serves all age groups across a comprehensive range of emergency medical cases, including critical and trauma patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for general ED patients
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- Floating to other units and hospitals required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Requirements
- Active RN license in the State of Alabama or valid Compact license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
- No disciplinary hits on license (past or current) permitted
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required at minimum
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in emergency nursing
- 18 months of experience may be considered if all experience is under the highest level of professional license
- Required certifications: AHA or Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Required certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- NURSYS license verification required
- Current driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references within the last year required for consideration
- Full SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- ED team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff, providing 24/7 coverage
- All ED RNs are required to complete an on-site skills test in addition to an online pre-test — a Cardiac Exam will be administered after offer acceptance
- No HealthStream modules required prior to start — competency-based modules are completed during virtual orientation
- Solid navy scrubs required
- Local candidates are welcome to apply with no radius restrictions
- Parking is available on-site
