Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center in Charleston, SC, with scrub and circulate experience strongly preferred.

Details

• Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching hospital, and Magnet-designated facility with 820 staffed beds
• The Main OR consists of 21 suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Nursing team is composed of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate
• Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Up to one working weekend shift required every 4 weeks
• On-call required: up to 4 weeknight call shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holiday rotation is required
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities, may be required
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; SC license must be in hand or actively in progress — candidate will not be cleared to start until SC license is active
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
• Level I Trauma center experience required
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

• RNs are responsible for both scrubbing and circulating surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties
• The OR is described as a busy, nurse-driven department offering cutting-edge surgical technology
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
• First-time travelers are accepted depending on the specifics of the position
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
