Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring at least 1.5 years of ICU experience and specialized neuro critical care skills.
Details
- 13-week assignment at a 554-bed Level I Trauma, teaching, and children's hospital in New Mexico
- Neuro ICU unit with a neurological patient population including TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurologic disorders
- Standard patient ratio is 1:2
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required to other ICUs, PCU floors (including med-surg-level patients with occasional 6:1 ratios), ED, and PACU to care for admitted patients
- Charting via Cerner
- Parking is provided at no cost
- Black scrubs required
- Block scheduling is accommodated upon request but not guaranteed
- There is a possibility of being asked to switch to the CTVICU (Cardiothoracic ICU) due to a new tower opening
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required
- Experience with specialized neuro critical care procedures: EVD insertions, neuro post-op care, A-line insertions, intubation, central line insertion, CRRT, post-TPA care, and post-thrombectomy care
- Experience with EVD and CRRT equipment required
- ICP monitoring skills required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark at this facility are required to take a 6-month break before returning
- New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
- A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
