Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring a NY RN license in hand and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• 39-bed combined Acute Stroke and Med/Surg Telemetry unit specializing in acute stroke patients, neurological disorders, and acute medical patients
• Tertiary care hospital with 528 total staffed beds
• Patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 for Med/Surg patients
• Day and night rotation, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00 days / 19:00–7:00 nights)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating is required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy, peripheral line care and management, and phlebotomy
• Respiratory management experience including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Additional Information

• Unit practices an adjustable acuity delivery of care model providing evidence-based care for stroke prevention and acute care phases
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration
