Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) travel position requiring at least 1 year of CVICU experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and a NE or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting, Level 1 Trauma Center
- 18-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), unit 5S
- Patient population includes post-open heart surgery, complex thoracic and vascular cases, as well as advanced cardiac surgeries, lytic cases, carotids, TACARs, Fempop, EVARs/Endo AAAs
- Also supports complex cases from the cath lab, structural heart program, EP lab, ER, and clinic
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
- RNs manage all RT equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow; no monitor techs on unit — RNs must independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Patients may be stabilized and supported by Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- 12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)
- Every other weekend required; holidays covered every other or as needed based on unit needs
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating required to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications (active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience overall; at least 1 year of experience with CVICU patient population required
- BSN not required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify candidate resides more than 50 miles from the facility
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Charge nurse is present on each shift; charge nurses do carry an assignment
- Hospitalist and intensivist are both in-house 24/7
- No CNAs on the unit
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts, plus a 12-hour general orientation
- A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on the Friday of orientation — a score of 90% or higher is required to pass; failure may result to termination of contract
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove artificial nails will result in termination of contract
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; permanent address as shown on driver's license is used to verify eligibility
- Candidates may not be currently employed (full time, part time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity; candidates who were employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- RTO must be submitted upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, and additional RTO will not be approved after the profile has been submitted
