Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and proficiency in labor, postpartum, and nursery care on a night shift schedule.

Details

• LDRP unit within an acute care hospital setting, featuring 8 LDRP beds and 2 triage beds
• Level 1 Nursery supporting neonates 35 weeks gestation or greater
• Approximately 25 births per month
• RNs are required to titrate Pitocin drips
• Unit uses OBIX for electronic fetal monitoring (EFM); facility is currently on Cerner and transitioning to Epic
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Block scheduling available — facility will group shifts together when possible (blocks of 6 or 8 shifts preferred)
• Weekend rotation required
• Holiday rotation required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating requirement
• AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines are followed
• Charge nurses carry an assignment on this unit
• No nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
• OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia are not in-house 24/7
• RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP) is available on the unit

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required by start date
• Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
• Skills in labor, postpartum, and nursery care are required for this LDRP unit
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the same specialty within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive LDRP care including labor support, postpartum care, and Level 1 nursery care
• 26-week contract with a 12-week cancellation policy allowing up to 12 hours off per period
• Unit orientation is 2 days
• Candidates whose permanent address is within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
• Former permanent staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months, and hospital approval is required prior to placement
• Scrubs: personal scrubs are acceptable, or the facility will supply grey OR scrubs
