Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Sonographer with at least 1 year of experience and RDMS (AB & OB/GYN) certification for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level II trauma acute care facility.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with a dedicated Ultrasound department serving inpatient and clinic/ambulatory populations
  • Full range of ultrasound studies performed for patients from infants through adults, including general sonography and limited vascular imaging (separate vascular team)
  • Average of 6–8 scans per tech per day, with approximately 50 studies performed across the department daily
  • Procedural ultrasound experience (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis) is highly preferred
  • Equipment includes Siemens and Philips ultrasound systems; PACS system is Siemens/SECTRA
  • EMR is Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
  • Night shift, 10-hour shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule; hours run 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Wednesday nights through Tuesday morning, alternating 40-hour and 30-hour weeks
  • On-call required approximately once every 2 weeks on a rotating basis; holiday on-call required depending on rotation
  • Float coverage to inpatient and clinic areas as needed
  • Techs may be the sole sonographer in the department depending on shift

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of sonography experience
  • Active BLS (AHA) certification required
  • RDMS – Abdomen (AB) and RDMS – OB/GYN via ARDMS required
  • License required if applicable
  • 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years of relevant specialty experience

Additional Information

  • Performs general ultrasound studies across a broad patient population (infant through adult); vascular imaging is handled by a separate team
  • Radiologist coverage is provided in-house from 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, with Nighthawk remote coverage from 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Orientation is up to 1 week and includes computer-based training, system access setup, and supervised floor orientation for the first few days
  • No scrub color is assigned; scrubs are not provided
  • Scheduling is set rotation — no self-scheduling or block scheduling; may include 12-hour, 10-hour, or weekend-only shifts
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date
  • Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay rate
