Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large acute care teaching hospital, with Epic EMR experience required.

• Short-term acute care teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
• Respiratory therapy unit with a full scope of adult respiratory care
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Weekend rotation required every third weekend
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Epic EMR used; experience required
• 26-week contract

Requirements

• Active RRT credential required
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with airway management: endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy/suctioning
• Experience administering inhaled medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex
• Experience with medication delivery systems: aerosol mask setup, aerosol trach setup, and metered dose inhalers
• Nebulizer experience required: handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy experience required
• Ventilator management experience required: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• ABG interpretation experience required
• Valid MO state license required; IL candidates may be considered with a pending IL license (please note when submitting for consideration)
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Medium to dark gray scrubs required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract period; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• Permanent employees of this facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travel RNs/standard travelers may work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break; allied travelers may work up to 12 months before requiring a 6-month break
• Orientation modules must be completed prior to start; parking is available on-site at the traveler's expense through various lot and garage options
