Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care and high-volume trauma ED experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Saint Louis, MO.
Details
- Work in the Respiratory department of a 767-licensed-bed Level 2 Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Serves adult respiratory patients across multiple units including SICU, CCU, CVICU, ED, Neuro, and Trauma; pediatric patients are stabilized in the ED and transferred to a sister facility
- Patient ratios are based on a point system dependent on staffing
- Equipment includes Avea ventilators, LTV transport ventilator, V60 BiPAP, Bellavista (incoming), Vapotherm, and Airvo for high-flow therapy
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift, 3x12, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekends, floating, and on-call as required by the facility
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active RRT license with the Missouri Board for Respiratory Care (license required if applicable)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in respiratory therapy
- Adult critical care experience required
- High-volume, busy ED with trauma experience required
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documentation of a scheduled renewal is provided
Additional Information
- Preferred skills include blood gas draws, blood gas processing on GEM, and blood gas interpretation
- Ideal candidate is a strong, confident therapist with excellent time management skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude
- Black scrubs required; Mercy standard scrubs must be black
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but will be billed at a reduced rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, they must separate from the facility for at least 1 year or transition to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
- The facility has earned a 'B' Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group and holds recognition including a Level 1 STEMI Center designation and the AHA's Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award
