Job Details

• Position: MedSurg Float Pool RN
• Shift Requirements: 12-hour night shifts (1845-0715 EST)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (hours not guaranteed during orientation)
• Weekend Requirements: Rotate every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Must work 1 winter holiday
• On Call/Call Back: Rare
• Break: 30 minutes

Responsibilities

• Float to all acute care and cardio units to care for medical patients or assist in the Emergency Center for acute care patient holds.
• Mid-shift floats are uncommon and only for emergent needs.

Qualifications

• Education:

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Licensure:

  • GA or compact RN license required.
• Certifications:

  • AHA BLS and AHA NIHSS required.
  • AHA ACLS highly preferred.
• Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of solid experience on a Medical-Surgical unit; travel experience preferred.

Patient Care

• Patient Ratios:

  • 1:6 for both days and nights.
• Nurse Aides:

  • Yes, with ratios of 1:8, generally 1:10, and sitters available.

Additional Information

• EMR System: Meditech Expanse (experience preferred but not required; training provided).
• Uniform: Caribbean blue or white scrubs required.
