PCU RN Job Details
- Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Illinois nursing jobs)
- Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Contract Duration: 16 weeks (Start: 12/8/2025 – End: 3/30/2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:45 – 07:15); 3x12 or 4x12 per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: IMC/Stepdown (MMC6205-3E IMC)
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Charting System: Cerner
- Parking: Free with permit
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000-$2050
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (required at submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/Stepdown nursing experience (Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, IMC/DOU/Stepdown)
- BLS and NIHSS certifications (ACLS preferred)
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and rapid response teams
- Ability to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
- Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
- Level I Trauma nursing experience preferred
- Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a fast-paced IMC/Stepdown unit
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage dysrhythmias
- Care for ventilated patients, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
- Administer medications including cardiac and vasoactive drips, blood products, and sedation
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/PICC line management
- Manage post-cardiac procedures, neuro/ortho trauma, and renal failure cases
- Implement isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
- Float to other nursing units within scope as needed
