Travel RN Opportunity – Behavioral Health Adult Unit

Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Facility Overview

  • Large, modern, Joint Commission-accredited hospital with 330+ beds
  • Level 1 Intensive Care Unit (only one in Idaho)
  • Level II Trauma Center designation
  • Specialty services including cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, trauma, neurosurgery, intensive care, and behavioral health
  • Behavioral Health Center (BHC) is a 74-bed inpatient psychiatric facility for children, adolescents, and adults
  • BHC provides 24-hour crisis intervention for various mental health issues

Unit Information – Behavioral Health Center

  • 74 inpatient beds
  • Staff of approximately 150
  • Shift staffing (Night Shift example): 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, 2 Mental Health Technicians (MHT), 1-3 sitters
  • Patient ratio: RN 1:8 (shared nursing model)
  • Equipment used: glucometer, oxygen, tube feeding, office equipment
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech

Position Details

  • Shift: Nights
  • Start: ASAP

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of Idaho
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) / Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of chemical dependency or psychiatric nursing experience, or strong desire to learn in this specialty
  • BSN degree preferred

Typical Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct physical and psychosocial care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, evaluation)
  • Provide holistic, individualized care appropriate to patient age
  • Advocate for patient safety and ensure compliance with core measures
  • Participate in development and implementation of patient care plans
  • Communicate nursing process elements to improve outcomes and promote team collaboration

  • Rotating weekends, no on-call required

Certifications Required

  • BLS/BCLS
