Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IR PACU)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Position Details

• Role: Interventional Radiology Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (IR PACU) Nurse
• Shift: Rotating start times at 6 AM, 7 AM, or 8 AM
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (shift times vary based on unit needs)
• Requirements:

  • IR PACU experience with Phase 1 recovery
  • Minimum 1 year ICU experience
  • Experience caring for pediatric patients
  • 3-4 late stays required every 6 weeks
• Certifications Required (must have or be willing to obtain prior to start):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – not required at submission but must be obtained before starting
• Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

Required Background Checks & Verifications

• Background Check (within 1 year, updated annually) including:

  • County Criminal Background Search (last 7 years)
  • National Criminal and Sex Offender Search
  • SS Trace, FACIS III
  • Education Verification or signed official transcript/diploma
• EPLS/GSA/SAM Check (within 30 days of start, updated annually)
• HHS/OIG Exclusion Check (within 30 days of start, updated annually)
• Sex Offender Search (within 30 days of start, updated annually)
• Employment Verification (7 years)
• References: Two references verified within 6 months of start (Manager or Supervisor preferred)
• Employment Application: Any gaps longer than 30 days must be explained

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
• BLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
• PALS (AHA only, RQI accepted) or ENPC accepted in lieu of PALS
• NIH Stroke Certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) if applicable
• CHEMO certification if applicable
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) if applicable
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card if applicable
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for ICU, PACU, IR, and other specified units
• State Nursing License Verification (within 30 days of start)
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start

Competency Exams (Must be current and renewed as required)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (including pediatric medication exam if applicable)
• Color Blind Testing Online
• Unit Specific Competency Exams (1 and 2)
• Core Part I, II, III
• Conscious Sedation Competency Exam
• RN Math Ability Competency Exam (Basic or Advanced)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
• Fit Mask Test (annual, specific mask types accepted)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
• Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year, renewed annually)
• TB Questionnaire (annually if positive TB history)
• Immunizations or Titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug Testing (within 1 year, updated annually) – specific drug panels required
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption (annual)
• COVID-19 Vaccination or approved exemption (initial series required, booster preferred but not required)

Facility Specific Requirements

• Must review and sign policies including:

  • Acceptable Use Policy
  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • Electronic Communications Policy
  • Password Policy
• EKG Exam: Must be completed within the first week of booking or risk cancellation; passing score required

Additional Notes

• Skills Checklists must be current and renewed annually
• Pass/Fail Testing for EKG and Medication has strict passing criteria and limited attempts
• Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance to start or continue assignment

This position requires a highly skilled RN with specialized IR PACU and ICU experience, pediatric patient care experience, and multiple certifications and competencies. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and facility-specific policies is mandatory.
