Position: Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist responsible for evaluating, planning, directing, and administering therapeutic modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. This role involves administering treatments and occupational agents aimed at restoring function and preventing disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. The ideal candidate will assist patients in achieving their maximum performance and functioning levels while adapting to their capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Provide appropriate supervision to occupational therapy assistants and aides.
• Perform comprehensive assessments of each patient, directing personalized care plans based on identified deficits. This includes working with pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Observe and evaluate patient responses to treatment, discussing any recommended adjustments to the care plan with the referring physician.
• Formulate and implement teaching plans based on identified learning needs, involving patients and their families in the process. Evaluate the effectiveness of the learning provided.
• Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure that both patient needs and hospital policies are met efficiently.
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in occupational therapy modalities and manage modality equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain department cleanliness and safety standards while documenting pertinent records in accordance with established policies.
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, while identifying and addressing their psychosocial needs.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians, staff, and administrative teams.
• Exhibit flexibility and organizational skills, functioning effectively under stress.
• Foster good working relationships within the department and with other departments, consulting as necessary to collaborate on patient care and performance improvement activities.
• Participate in educational staff training and performance improvement initiatives. Assist with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members.
• Engage in continuing education programs as required by facility needs and in accordance with state and national continuing education unit requirements.
