Location: Pocatello, Idaho
Facility: Ardent Health Services Portneuf Medical Center

Job Description

  • Position: Echo Tech
  • Must have Structural Heart Training
  • Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hours each day
  • On-call required as needed
  • Patient Age Group: Primarily adults, some pediatric echos occasionally
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Scrubs provided

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • RDMS-AB (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Adult Echo)
  • RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
  • State License verification required
  • HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Experience & Skills

  • General Skills: PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Ultrasound Procedure Experience: General, Cardiac TTE (Transthoracic Echocardiography)
  • Echo Procedure Experience: 3D Echo, Bubble Study, Pharmacologic Stress Echos, TEE (Transesophageal Echo), Treadmill Stress Echos
  • Equipment Experience: GE ultrasound machines

Work Environment

  • Echo Tech Department duties vary between daily outpatient echos, inpatient echos, and procedure coverage
  • Traveler must live at least 100 miles from the facility

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB Questionnaire for positive TB results (annual renewal)
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination)
    • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)

Background & Documentation

  • 7-year background check updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
  • Employment application and resume required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • Education verification and highest level diploma/transcript required
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)

Additional Notes

  • Clear headshot photo required for badge
  • Various competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies and documentation is mandatory
