Registered Nurse - Invasive Cardiology
Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Facility: Southern New Hampshire Medical Center (SolutionHealth)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract (13-week contract)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience (preferably 1-3 years in a busy interventional cath lab)
- Traveler experience accepted, including first-time travelers
- Skills: Circulating, Conscious Sedation, Telemetry
- Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NH RN Licensure, Graduate from accredited nursing school
Job Details
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Shift Options:
- 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
- 10-hour day shifts, 4 days a week
- Call Requirement: Every 2-3 weekends on call
- Float Requirement: None
- Weekend Requirement: On call every 2-3 weeks
Patient Diagnoses & Procedures
- Routine left and right heart cardiac catheterizations
- PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention)
- STEMI patients
- Device implants (IABP, Impella)
- Occasional simple electrophysiology studies and ablations
- Potential to perform cardiac stress testing if desired
Unit & Role Description
- Provide care for all age groups with various cardiac system abnormalities
- Assess and evaluate patients and families collaboratively
- Accountable for nursing decisions and outcomes
- Coordinate and provide technical/medical expertise for adult and pediatric interventional cardiology procedures
- Document patient information according to standards
- Work under general supervision of RN Clinical Manager
- Circulate elective and emergent cardiac cath/PCI procedures
Equipment & Systems
- GE Mac Lab
- EPIC electronic health record system
- IABP and Impella devices
- Medication and documentation systems: Pyxis, Mac Lab, SBAR communication
Orientation & Uniform
- Orientation: 24 hours (may vary based on travel experience)
- Scrubs: Any
Important Notes
- Travelers who have previously worked for any SolutionHealth facility are not eligible
- Call and weekend coverage required as noted
- Pass/fail Basic Dysrhythmia exam required within 48 hours of contract signing for certain units (MS/Tele, ER, ICU)
- Background check, drug screen, and various health and immunization documents required prior to start
- Fit mask testing and respiratory safety clearance required
- Flu vaccination required during flu season with medical/religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation
- Comprehensive background checks including Social Security verification, criminal history, and professional references required
Required Certifications & Documents
- ACLS (AHA provider only)
- BLS (AHA provider only)
- NH RN License (copy and verification)
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
- Drug screen (10-panel) within 14 days prior to start
- COVID-19 exemption forms accepted (medical and religious)
- Background check within 30 days of start
- Two professional references within last 3 years (one from supervisor)
- Competency exams including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and pharmacology as required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Annual fit mask test (N95 or equivalent)
- Respiratory safety clearance questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Hepatitis B declination form if vaccine declined
- TB questionnaire annually
