Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 3x12 hour night shifts
• Weekdays and some weekends
• Full holiday availability required (no time off requests on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Education accreditation confirmation for Respiratory Therapy program graduates
• High school diploma or GED verification
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, THC, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or instructor level
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider or instructor level
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (not specified for this role)

Competencies and Exams

• Unit-specific competency exams required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (not applicable if remote)

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Compliance with facility dress code and hand hygiene policies
• Completion of fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement

Notes

• Fingerprinting and background checks are time-sensitive and must be completed prior to or shortly after start date
• Candidates must be prepared for strict holiday coverage and no exceptions for Christmas Eve/Day off
• Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs with at least 2 years in the specialty, who are comfortable working night shifts and holiday coverage, and have experience with Epic and GE ventilators.
