Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: High Risk Labor and Delivery RN
- Shift Options:
- Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts/week, 12 hours each)
- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week, 12 hours each)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float to postpartum unit within scope
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system

- Type: Acute Care Teaching Hospital
- Trauma Level: Level 3
- Total Staffed Beds: 317
- Charting System: Epic (Excellian)
- Scrub Color: Provided by unit
- Parking:
- First day free with validated ticket in Blue Ramp
- Night shift parking free in ramp after first day
- Day/Evening shift parking available at nearby lots for a fee
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year required (7-year statewide MN search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year required
- MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance mandatory before start (no pending fingerprints allowed)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months or as per history)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, proof of series, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no exemptions)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year (not required for client clearance)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start
Training and Documentation
- Completion of facility-specific preorientation online modules within 72 hours of login (approx. 11.5 hours for L&D RN)
- Annual skills checklist required
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required
- Badge photo (passport style) required within 48 hours of contract signing
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers accepted
- Guaranteed hours subject to client cancellation policy (up to 3 shifts may be canceled without penalty)
- References not required for client clearance
- Candidate must complete MN DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after contract signing to initiate fingerprinting process
- Parking fees apply after first day for day/evening shifts; night shift parking is free after first day
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a travel contract in a Level 3 trauma teaching hospital with a focus on high-risk obstetrics and advanced clinical skills.
