Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Unit: 14-bed overflow med/surg telemetry unit for ED boarder patients; flexible census based on demand

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a med/surg telemetry unit with a focus on managing ED boarder patients.
• Unit is a flex space within GI Endoscopy area; patient volume may fluctuate.
• Competency in phlebotomy and IV placement is mandatory.
• Participate in PICC/IV team activities and peripheral line care/management.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; use rapid response and code teams as needed.
• Administer oxygen via nasal cannula and oxygen tanks; perform non-invasive airway management.
• Follow isolation precautions.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (EOW).
• Float to other units as required.
• EPIC electronic health record experience required.
• Navy blue or white scrubs required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Experience with use of Rapid Response and Code teams.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
