Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location

• Muncie, Indiana

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (5:30 AM to 6:00 PM)
• Alternative shift option: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Maximum of 5 consecutive workdays allowed
• Holiday shifts typically on a rotation basis

Unit and Work Setting

• Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• General Care
• Preferred experience in Trauma, Emergency Room (ER), and Teaching Hospital settings

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience working in an Acute Care setting

Clinical Skills Required

• Airway management
• Medication administration
• Ventilator management
• Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Oxygen therapy
• Suctioning
• Pulmonary toileting
• Nebulizer treatments
• BiPAP and CPAP management

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bronchoscopy experience
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation system
• Experience with Hamilton G5 and Philips V60 ventilators

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days of start, including:

  • 7-year residential/work history
  • SSN trace, county, state, national sex offender, and FACIS Level III checks
  • Education verification (may be pending at start)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Online license verification within 30 days of start
• Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality forms prior to start
• Orientation and competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam
• Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators); on-site fit testing available with prior approval
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
• Tuberculosis screening within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) with chest x-ray if positive
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine strongly recommended
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31); declinations not accepted

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers and local candidates are accepted
• Prior travel experience is not required
• HIPAA acknowledgment and safety manual acknowledgment required
• Must complete all required facility-specific documentation and orientation prior to start

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity adult ICU setting with a reputable travel contract in Indiana. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, and compliance requirements to be considered.
