MRI Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Night shift position (Thursday through Monday)
- Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (9 hours/day, 45 hours/week)
- Block schedule focusing on weekend night shifts
- Supports inpatient and outpatient imaging with emphasis on oncology cases
- Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Average daily case volume: 35–40 cases
- Electronic documentation system: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT certification
- BLS certification
- Experience in outpatient and acute care settings
Imaging & Technical Skills
- Expertise in neuro, abdominal, and musculoskeletal imaging
- Proficient in imaging of:
- Abdominal, Female & Male Pelvis
- Chest, Brain, Face/Neck
- Hip/Bony Pelvis, Knee, Shoulder
- Special imaging procedures:
- Fusion (non-brain)
- Gradient Echo Imaging
- Image Post-Processing (ADC mapping, subtraction)
- Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP)
- Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR)
- Perfusion
- Spectroscopy
- Spin Echo Images
- Surface Coils
- T1 & T2 Weighted Imaging
- Spine Imaging (Cervical, Lumbar, Thoracic)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide search, sex offender registry, and MVR if driving is required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, using specific Ohio codes
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
- Education verification from accredited programs required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Required immunizations and/or titers:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed with documentation)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems for background checks and exclusions
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA only, instructor/provider or RQI accepted)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – verify per unit
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs within 1 year of start (not applicable for this MRI Tech role)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs/LVNs (not applicable here)
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required
