Description
Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room
Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4x10 hour shifts)
On-Call:
- Minimum 1 weekday call per week
- Weekend rotation required
- On-call hours: Monday–Friday 3:30 PM – 7:00 AM, Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
Job Description
- Prepare the operating room including sterile field setup, surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions
- Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery
- Manage surgical equipment and sterile field simultaneously
- Perform counts of sponges and supplies to prevent retained foreign objects
- Support a surgical department with 6 operating rooms and approximately 250-300 procedures monthly
- Patient ratio is 1:1 in a 99-bed facility
- EMR systems used: MedHost (Inpatient), PICIS (OR)
- Hospital scrubs provided
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required (completion of CAAHEP-accredited or equivalent program and national CST exam)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Experience with general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, urology, plastics, endocrine, trauma, and robotic (DaVinci) surgeries
- Experience with both adult and pediatric patients
- Fingerprints required for all travelers in New Mexico

- No option for 48-hour guarantee or blocked scheduling
- Weekly hours: 36 hours
- Call is mandatory as described above
