PICU Nights **Apply EMSA same day. NOT needed in hand** Patient Population: Birth - 18yrs critical care vents/ EVDs/ECMO/Surgical/ Medicine/ Oncology Average Daily Census: Birth - 18yrs critical care vents/ EVDs/ECMO/Surgical/ Medicine/ Oncology Number of beds: 30 Ratios: Days/Nights/Weekends - 1:1-2 Charting: Cerner Required certs: BCLS, PALS, ACLS, Preferred certs: CCRN and TNCC. Minimum 2 years experience required. Unit does NOT prefer to accept first time travelers. Previous academic experience really needed; Looking for previous assignments for >8 weeks (extensions are a positive in the history) from similar type facilities (high volume, high acuity, reputable facilities. Required skills: Vents and IV Starts. Preferred skills: ICP, Conscious Sedation, and Level 1 Trauma Experience. Float required to NICU and Peds. Weekend coverage required every other weekend. Unit Details: Lots of acute resp failure and neuro and neurosurgical patients Spinal instrumentations Seizures Oncologic emergencies We are a small unit that is in a community based hospital with no residents/fellows and no intensivist at night. Our acuities can fluctuate from very sick to very stable. On average, our unit has less acute patients than busier, larger hospitals. We need staff who are comfortable in every situation and have experience taking travel assignments in a variety of types of units. At times, our unit can be very stable and the traveler needs to be comfortable with that environment. This traveler RN may be only 1 of 2 RNs on per shift (the other RN would be a core staff RN) but without direct and immediate MD resources as a larger, teaching facility may have.
