Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Nurse functions as a role model, teacher, innovator and colleague of the Healthcare team. Commits to driving quality through evidence based practice, patient centric care, and knowledge of regulatory guidelines and measures. Takes the lead role in ensuring pre-established protocols and regulatory requirements are followed. The Advance Practice Nurse displays dedication, initiative, open mindedness, and optimism in all their work and interactions

Essential Functions
The APRN is responsible and accountable for quality care of patients by utilizing the nursing process as defined for advanced practice nurses in the Missouri Nurse Practice Act
Obtains patient histories
Performs physical assessments pertinent to patient’s chief complaint
Evaluates assessment data and established diagnoses
Orders and evaluates appropriate diagnostic studies
Performs and monitors therapeutic procedures
Assesses and/or manages follow-up plans
Records and documents assessment data, interventions, results, and patient outcomes
Educates patients and/or families in order to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health and intervene in acute or chronic illness
Stays current on all patient charts, billing, dictation on a daily basis in the clinic and hospital, where required
Collaborates with physicians, nurses and nurse administration to implement and evaluate patient care delivery in the clinic and hospital
Facilitates and implements systems which promote and maintain effective communication and collaboration with inter/intra hospital physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team
Maintains appropriate records and documentation of clinical and educational activities
Demonstrates ability to work effectively with patients, families, and with professional and supportive personnel who provide patient care
Supervises clinical activities of ancillary team members
Recognizes and uses appropriate channels to communicate stressful patient care/performance situations that arise with physicians, families and other staff members
Works with the Collaborating Physician(s) regarding Quality Improvement activities. Contributes to development of new ideas to benefit department, hospital, and/or staff
Complies with regulatory standards which may include CMS, TJC, DHSS and hospital policies
Complies with meaningful use requirements
Acts as a role model and in selected cases
Participants in activities necessary to annual review
Documents continuing competency in the areas of medical diagnoses, therapeutics, invasive procedures and management of the patient as well as required certifications
Serves on departmental and interdisciplinary committees as required
Performs other duties as determined by the Collaborative Physician(s) or Office Manager

Qualifications
Master's Degree In Nursing required
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure In Missouri Upon Hire required
APRN-BC - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Board Certified In Missouri Upon Hire required
BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire preferred
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire preferred
