Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Super Float Registered Nurse, you will provide care to a variety of patients throughout our Hospital. Staffed with a team-oriented group of caring clinical professionals our Pool RN’s float to our Critical Care, Emergency Room, Step Down, Medical Surgical, Orthopedic & Spine Specialty, and Neuro Trauma floors.
About this unit:
- You have proven to be proficient as a registered nurse and are now looking for a new way to sharpen your skills. As part of our site RN Float Pool, you will be lending your knowledge and experience to ICU, Step-Down, MS, OSS, and Neuro Trauma units. Meeting new colleagues, observing different techniques, and keeping your specialty skills in use will add to the upward momentum of your RN journey.
- Premium pay plus shift differentials.
- Critical Care units - ED, ICU, PACU, Step-Down.
- Non-Critical Care units – Med Surgical, Women’s Surgical, Neuro Trauma, Orthopedic and Spine Specialty.
- Schedule: 3 12-hr shifts; 7a - 7p plus rotating weekends.
Responsibilities:
- The role of the Super Float Pool Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Director of the department to which the RN is assigned for his or her shift.
- The Registered nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
- The Registered Nurse in the Super Float Pool position provides care for acutely ill patient in units as determined by the Float Pool agreement.
What Qualifications You Will Need:
- Graduate of school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
- BLS required upon hire. ACLS required within 2 months of hire. TNCC and PALS required within 6 months of hire.
- Must have five (5) years critical care experience in the areas of ICU, PACU, and/or ER.

We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services. We offer the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU. We have four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and Shawnee. Each year our colleagues treat over 45,000 patients.
