Position Summary
Oncology RN needed for night shift caring for oncology and women's surgical patients in a 24-bed med-surg/oncology unit. This travel RN (contract RN) role is ideal for experienced oncology nurses and med-surg RNs seeking Asheville NC travel nursing jobs with exposure to chemotherapy protocols, IV therapy, and Cerner EMR documentation. Job Details
- Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (On-site) — Asheville, NC travel nursing
- Unit: K9A – Oncology / Women's Surgical (24 beds)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Duration: 24 weeks (February 23, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Employment Type: Travel RN / Contract RN
- Openings: 2 Oncology RN positions (night shift)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (North Carolina or compact state license accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience (oncology or medical-surgical preferred)
- Chemo/oncology certification preferred (chemotherapy administration / oncology infusion experience highly valued)
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Willingness to work 6 weekend days per schedule as required
- Experience with Cerner EMR or similar electronic medical record systems preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care and women's surgical post-operative care
- Perform patient assessments, monitor conditions, and document care accurately in Cerner EMR
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely, including oncology protocols and chemotherapy per facility policy
- Support procedures such as pelvic exams, echocardiograms, and thoracentesis as needed
- Provide patient and family education on treatment plans, side-effect management, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of RNs, CNAs, physicians, and unit coordinators to ensure quality care
- Maintain a safe, supportive environment for patients and families and escalate concerns appropriately
- Float to other med-surg units on occasion as needed
