Job Summary and QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY:
The cardiac rehabilitation nurse is a registered nurse who possesses advanced knowledge and skill in the area of cardiac nursing. The nurse will cover and assist with immediate responsibilities for the daily operations pertaining to the delivery of out-patient Cardiac Rehab in either the absence of or with the cardiac rehab coordinator.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Minimal three years of experience as an RN with 1-2 years of experience working with cardiac patients, preferably on a telemetry unit or coronary care unit.
Has been directly involved in education to the patient with coronary heart disease including myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass surgery and angina and has some knowledge regarding the effects of exercise on the cardiovascular system.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required:
Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must:
apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire
obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers with American Heart Association or American Red Cross at hire.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to: Coordinator of Cardiac Rehab
Positions supervised: Provides work leadership and supervision to Exercise Physiologists and Fitness
Specialists during cardiac rehab delivery.
