Description:

The Regional Director of Accreditation coordinates and ensures the effectiveness of multi-faceted department(s) or service area(s), which includes setting priorities, developing policies and procedures; overseeing and guiding process or program design, improvement implementation and maintenance; financial and human resource management; strategic planning; and quality assessment and improvement. They continually evaluate progress toward objectives and ensures that day-to-day operation are efficient and effective.

Position responsibilities:

  • Are responsible for planning and implementing strategies for evaluation of regulatory compliance in a uniform and consistent manner across region.
  • They collaborate with System Office resources as well as regional level and RHM level resources to provide an annual accreditation plan. They prioritize improvement strategies as part of the overall Annual Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience plan.
  • Support continuous readiness for survey through ongoing monitoring activities including rounding and tracers.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to build knowledge and capability to independently conduct rounding and tracers as well as to incorporate integration of regulatory requirements into standard work.
  • The Regional Director of Accreditation complies with various codes, laws, rules, and regulations concerning patient care as mandated by state and federal agencies including investigational activities of federal, state, and local enforcement authorities.
  • They proactively monitor changes in regulatory and compliance requirements, evaluates impacts on RHMs and region, makes recommendations, and educate stakeholders including front-line staff.
  • Conduct research and provides consultation for interpretation of regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a regional liaison with external regulatory agencies (i.e. CMS, The Joint Commission).
  • The Regional Director designs, directs, and directs and facilitates implantation of systems for regulatory compliance and continuous readiness.
  • They provide support to the executive teams at each regional health ministry related to planning for regulatory compliance at the RHM as well to prioritize resources and activities across the region.
  • Provide ongoing education and support to RHM level executive teams in order to advocate for standardization and consistency across the region.
  • Develop RHM-level regulatory structure that evaluates compliance with regulatory requirements within the RHM through tools and process such as Focused Standards Assessment, Mock Survey, utilization of readiness tools and escalates findings and vulnerabilities to senior leadership for prioritization and remediation.
  • They respond to complaints, concerns, and unannounced surveys and ensure timely follow-up with any finding.
  • Track and trends complaints, concerns, and findings and report to the Board.
  • They support policy development and review in order to ensure that policies, procedures, and processes comply with regulatory requirements as well as support best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 6-10 years of previous job-related experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • 3-5 years of managerial experience.
