Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Travel Position

Patient Population & Unit Details

• Patient types: Medical, Neurology, Cardiac, GI, Renal
• Conditions: Sepsis, Trauma, Surgery (excluding fresh open heart surgery)
• Unit size: 24 beds
• Patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:3

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• Current RN license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start

Required Exams & Competencies

• Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
• NIH Certification (Group A yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
• Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80%, updated as of Dec 2023)
• Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
• Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
• Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
• Influenza Vaccine: Recommended for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations accepted with mask requirement
• Fit Test: Required annually; must be completed prior to start
• TB Testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; chest X-ray if positive
• Health Statement: Physical exam or statement of good health prior to assignment, updated annually

Professional Requirements

• Resume/Profile submission
• At least two professional references prior to first assignment
• Criminal background check including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, sex offender registry, updated annually
• Employment verification for past 7 years, updated annually
• Education verification within 90 days prior to start
• Driver’s License/State ID (valid, matching address requirements)
• Ascension Confirmation of Assignment documentation

Additional Notes

• Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation must be completed pre-hire
• Ascension Unit Specific Checklist is optional but may be required by unit leader
• Badge photo required (white or blue background, no filters)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs who meet Ascension Health’s rigorous credentialing and health requirements and are comfortable managing complex patients in a high-acuity environment.
