Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location
- Madison, Wisconsin

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts per week)
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week)
- Every other weekend required
- Some holidays required
- No on-call duties
Unit Specialty
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Required Experience and Skills
- CVICU experience required
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage Continuous Venovenous Hemofiltration (CVVH) machine required
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Testing and Competency Requirements
- Telemetry test (Adult or Pediatric depending on assignment) with strict passing criteria:
- Minimum 80% overall score
- 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory
- 100% on 3rd degree heart block questions (for adult telemetry)
- Candidates allowed up to 3 attempts with remediation required after 2nd failure
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Education verification as applicable
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form (state-mandated)
- Employment application required
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
- Drug screening per Vaya standard (clinical candidates)
- Physical exam (must meet Aya standard, not facility required)
- Various health documents including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations or exemptions for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu, and others as required by facility policy
- Signed acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge must be submitted prior to start (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Medical or religious exemptions for vaccines require facility-specific forms and approvals
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually during flu season (September to April)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Arrhythmia experience
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
