Job Description
The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for evaluating, planning, directing, and administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. This role involves administering treatments and occupational agents to restore function and prevent disability following injury or physical disability. The ideal candidate will assist patients in reaching their maximum performance while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate supervision to assistants/aides.
- Perform assessments of each patient and direct plans of care based on identified deficits.
- Observe and evaluate patient responses to treatment and discuss any recommended changes with the physician.
- Formulate and evaluate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs, including family involvement.
- Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the development of the plan of care.
- Coordinate and direct patient care according to hospital policy.
- Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in occupational therapy modalities and operate equipment safely.
- Maintain department cleanliness and safety, while ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial needs.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and the administrative team.
- Maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments, consulting as appropriate.
- Participate in educational staff performance improvement in-services and assist in training for department staff.
- Engage in continuing education programs as needed, in compliance with state and national CEU requirements.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Qualified candidates must possess appropriate licensure and certifications to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
