Job Description

  • Position in Emergency Room nursing
  • Facility located in Wichita, KS

Required Credentials and Certifications

Licenses & Verification (Required for Submission)

  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Valid Driver's License or State ID (must not be expired and address must match records)
  • Resume/Profile submission required
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment

Certifications (Required for Onboarding)

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • TNCC (renewed every 4 years)
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk Online Portion (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills or MOAB De-Escalation Course)
  • NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years)
  • Influenza Vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Tdap (valid for 10 years, no declinations accepted)

Testing & Exams (Required for Onboarding)

  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation)
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated as of Dec 2023)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements (Required for Onboarding)

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Recent testing required with annual TB questionnaire
  • Positive PPD: Negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire (if applicable)
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start (annual update)
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter

Onboarding Requirements (Must be completed prior to or at start)

  • Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (done onsite)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6-hour pre-hire training)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip Pre-Hire Modules (for non-allied positions)
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check (including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, national sex offender check; updated annually)
  • Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
  • Ascension Education Verification (within 90 days of start, updated if break in service > 90 days)
  • Ascension Employment Verification (past 7 years, updated annually)
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (provided at initial assignment and updates for extensions)

Optional

  • Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader)
  • CPI/MOAB High Risk On-Site Portion (completed at orientation)
  • Positive PPD - Negative Chest X-Ray and Annual TB Questionnaire (if applicable)
  • Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment)
  • Ascension Name Change Document (legal documentation if applicable)
