Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health (Nights)
Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Adult Forensics/Intensive Unit – must be comfortable and highly experienced in this area.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to identify individual and group needs and interventions.
- Utilize the nursing process to meet the needs of patients requiring complex nursing care.
- Provide clinical supervision of Mental Health Workers (MHWs) to ensure safe and therapeutic care delivery.
- The program offers 24-hour care focused on co-occurring disorders, including medically assisted drug and alcohol withdrawal, stabilization, and education to support recovery.
- Must be willing to float to other units and take charge shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health / Intensive/Forensics Psychiatric experience.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as an RN, with recent adult forensics experience within the last 3 months (inpatient psych experience required; long-term care experience not accepted).
- Intensive/Forensics Psych/Behavioral Health experience and age groups must be clearly listed on the resume.
- Active Vermont or Compact RN license required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required.
- Resume must include psych experience and all age groups served.
- Psych skills checklist from within the last year required.
- Two supervisory references from the last 2 years of employment required.
- Must be able to start on 3/23 – no exceptions.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers will be considered.
Additional Information
- RTO (Request Time Off) blackout dates: 4/27-5/8, 5/22-5/26, 6/22-7/7, 8/10-8/14. RTO cannot exceed 7 days.
- Driver’s license or candidate’s address must be included in submission; candidates living within 35 miles of the facility will have a rate adjustment.
- CPI training is offered onsite; confirm availability at submission.
- Candidates should be aware that Brattleboro is a rural area with limited housing and public transportation options.

Summary
This is a 13-week temporary RN position in a specialized adult forensic and intensive behavioral health unit requiring a minimum of 5 years RN experience with recent inpatient psychiatric forensics experience. The role demands strong clinical skills, supervisory ability, and flexibility to float and take charge shifts. Prior travel experience is not required. Candidates must be able to start on 3/23 and hold an active Vermont or Compact RN license.
