Description
Registered Nurse - Critical Care Unit (CCU)
Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide independent nursing care in a mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting. Manage routine and complex patient care, including long-range planning and delegation. Care for patients with conditions such as DKA, Acute Respiratory Failure, MIs, CABGs, and those on ventilators.
Patient Population
- Mixed cardiac and medical ICU patients
- Common conditions: DKA, Acute Respiratory Failure, Myocardial Infarctions (MIs), Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABGs), ventilated patients
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Minimum 1 year of recent CCU (Coronary Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with:
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP)
- Impella devices
- Post-operative cardiovascular surgeries
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
Work Schedule and Environment
- Multiple shifts available
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call duties
- No floating between units
- Nurse-to-patient ratio:
- ICU patients: 2:1
- Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) patients: 4:1
Orientation and Onboarding
- New hires must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
- Preceptorship by trained staff with competency validations specific to Critical Care
- Completion of annual competency verifications required
