Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia

Job Overview

• Work in a surgical environment with 13 operating rooms and 2 minor procedure rooms.
• Average daily cases range from 60 to 70.
• Common surgical cases include General OB/GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Endovascular, Orthopedics, Plastics, Interventional Pain, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Da Vinci robot-assisted surgeries.
• No bariatrics or transplant cases.
• Scrubbing required for RNs.
• Use of EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Rotating call schedule with weekday and weekend call responsibilities.
• Call response time is 30 minutes.
• Floating to other areas such as Endovascular, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, and Orthopedics may be required if comfortable.
• Orientation typically includes 2 shifts in the OR, with additional pairing on call shifts as needed.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - preferred
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - only required in PACU

Experience & Skills

• Prefer candidates with a strong background in OR nursing.
• Prior experience scrubbing in the OR is required.
• Charge nurse or house supervisor roles are staffed by permanent employees, not travelers.

Scheduling & Call

• Rotating weekday and weekend call; typically every 4th to 5th weekend depending on service line.
• Evening call hours: 6:45 PM to 11:15 PM.
• Midnight call is usually covered by permanent staff.
• Weekend call consists of 3 to 4 call shifts every six weeks.
• Staff can schedule their own call shifts.
• Call rooms are available onsite.

Additional Requirements

• Must submit an unexpired copy of a valid driver’s license with application.
• Dress code and scrub colors are provided.
• Conflict resolution with surgeons and staff may be necessary.

• This position involves 12-hour day shifts with rotating weekend and weekday call duties.
