Unit & Facility Overview
- Level 2 Trauma Center Emergency Department
- 4 critical care bays
- Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Equipment includes ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro tele computer, Care Aware handheld devices
- Electronic Health Records systems: Omnicell, Cerner FirstNet, SBAR
- Teleneurology support for stroke cases in cooperation with a major hospital
- No Pediatric ICU; pediatric critical patients are transferred out

- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Weekend hours: No guaranteed weekends off, but fair scheduling is prioritized
- Call requirements: None
- Float requirements: Must float to ED Holding area
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) preferred but not required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience caring for ventilated patients
